How to leave your IT provider without losing your passwords
The handover checklist we use, and the three things to get in writing before you give notice.

Leaving an IT provider is mostly paperwork, but the paperwork decides whether the move takes two weeks or two months.
Get these three things first
Global admin access to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
Your domain registrar and DNS logins
The password vault, exported or transferred
Then give notice
Check your contract for the notice period and any fee. Most agreements ask for 30 to 90 days. We ask for the handover in week two of onboarding and keep both sides copied until it is done.
If your provider is slow to hand things over, that is normal and fixable. Microsoft can restore admin access to a verified owner.
